HELEN MCCORMICK, President and Founder
Helen has served as President of The House since founding it in November 2005. Her passion for students was born in the classroom, where she taught with distinction. Students love her energetic spirit and ceaseless energy that constantly push the envelope as she urges them to improve their grades, and to do the right thing, regardless of what others around them are doing. Helen reinforces parents’ positive influence on their kids and challenges them with parenting and social skills essential to their student’s success. To broaden students’ exposure to new and varied experiences, she arranges special events otherwise out of their reach or imagination. Her devotion to youth and her desire to challenge them to dream big and then attain each wish drives Helen to advocate for underserved kids in the community, before government leaders, and business magnates. On any given day, you can find her actively interacting with business, community and political leaders to coalesce their influence and resources for the sake of her students’ futures. Her passion won her a cameo in the November 2008 edition of SUCCESS magazine. Helen is a 2008 graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Citizen's Academy. Helen received the 2009 'Working Woman of the Year Award' presented by Washington Area Toyota Dealers and ABC Channel 7.
RON MCCORMICK, Vice-President and Founder
Ron McCormick has served as Vice President of The House, Incorporated since 2005. In addition to being the lead pastor of The Worship Center in Woodbridge, Virginia, and 33 years of senior pastoral experience, he has broadened his experience in business by founding The House with his wife, Helen. Ron has a passion for people and a real sense of urgency to equip them to face tomorrow today. Each week 2000 men, women, and children in greater Washington DC receive meals through his work at The House. When The House silences stomachs, it opens minds.
Through Ron’s commitment to end hunger, The House partnered with a hunger relief organization in spring 2009 to host a two-day event, “Wipe Out.” Under his direction and with the help of over 600 volunteers, The House packaged and shipped 113,000 life-saving meals with all the nutrients starving people in Haiti need for a day. The meals will be distributed to various communities, schools, clinics, and orphanages, especially targeting children and families.
Ron and Helen recruit more than 5,000 volunteer and mentorship hours weekly. The House has received more than 60,000 student visits since its opening in 2005. Their visionary leadership and executive abilities set a high standard for the staff and volunteers as they carefully follow the strategy of facing tomorrow today.
TODD MCCORMICK, Executive Director
Todd McCormick is the Executive Director of The House, Incorporated, responsible for program, staff, and student development. Todd earned his bachelor of Business Administration in Management degree from the University of Arkansas, and has more than 10 years of experience in human resources management and development. With an innate love for and ability to influence young people, he develops incredible relationships with House students and serves as a positive male role model in the lives of many of the students who come from single parent or dysfunctional families. Just as he pays attention to students, he asks that they pay attention to those around them, as well. Drawing from his professional background, he seeks outcomes in students’ lives including profit from how they invest their time and effort, productivity in school and in the community, satisfaction in what they accomplish, and safety both bodily and in relationships they form. With an eye on their futures, Todd further pours into students’ unique potentials to increase their impact on and to trump their peers in the future workforce. By avoiding the turnover (drop out attrition) prevalent in school as well as in business, he guides students to remain focused and accountable for their actions and what they produce. Todd is a 2008 graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Citizen’s Academy. |
